Clapham South

Clapham South Basement Conversion

This property is located on a quiet road, close to Clapham South, London. The main objective of this basement conversion was to provide the children with their own space due to them having taken over the ground floor of the house with toys, which the clients wanted to have back as an adult space to relax in the evenings.

The basement was excavated under the existing footprint of the house, a new build that matches the style of a Victorian property, originally constructed in 1998, so was a little more intricate than that of a standard Victorian dwelling. The client required a children’s play room, a basement WC, a shower room, Utility Room and a spare guest bedroom.

A new heating and plumbing system was installed to run the basement as a separate entity, incorporating under floor heating throughout all rooms.

The windows to the basement were installed to meet the existing design on the upper floors. The staircase once installed was then encased with glass and incorporated a bespoke oak shelved wine storage area underneath. This is a fantastic feature to the conversion and a real focal point.

All joinery on this project was constructed on site by our in-house skilled carpenters and were also spray painted on site to suit the clients requirements. These consisted of book cupboards, basement wardrobes, children’s storage boxes, etc.
